Individual

I want to try to be individual
Is that such a far off dream?
With so many different influences
Is that even still a thing?
To walk through life with lidded eyes
You’ll always fit inside a label
But open up you might just feel
Like a Zebra in a stable
Do I be me or do I fit in?
In a world of boxes, I feel shut in
We are always so scared to open our eyes
When all we see is the webpage of lies
Opinions are great but not all at once
They get far too much when they rain down on us
When I post online, I’m attacked from every angle
But usually there’s someone there willing to untangle
The noose wrapped tight around my neck
Left by all the faceless lines
Though we do receive words of love
The hate gets to us sometimes
Take a step back with open eyes
Take your creativity to the outside
Being inspired is not a bad thing
Influence is not copying
Take that idea for a spin
Individuality is a blessing not a sin
