Lifeline

I held onto you

Clutched onto you

Hand in hand

The wind it took you

You floated away from me

I lost my grip

You reached back for me

I reached out for you

Fingers touched

Grasping tighter now

Fighting nature’s cruelty

Intertwined

Locked together tight

We watched the passing storm

Tying our lifelines
