REVIEW

This was a book that I bought on a whim but I found it completely fascinating. The travelling women of the Grand Tour and their lives and writings were so fascinating and the author divided time between the different women and topics well, giving a wide scope of all the things that women appreciated and expected to get out of foreign travel – as well as the things they found there. There was also an inclusion of how the men and women both home and abroad responded to this influx of travelling women.

Overall this was a brilliant book and has caused me to seek out more books written on the topic.
