REVIEW
A really good story of two Black girls in Victorian London doing their best to solve a case of attempted murder while the city seems to be working against them.
The book handles racism and the slave trade with honesty and not using shock value. It is a good way of presenting it in a way that children can empathise with and adds to the story and plot instead of being thrown in randomly and shows the subtle ways that racism can show up – which can then lead to larger dangers such as smuggling and murder.
I will be picking up the sequel.
